Sampel adalah Ibu Hamil dengan umur kehamilan trisemester ke II dan mempunyai kadar Hb kurang dari 11 g% dl. Ibu Hamil dari tiap Dati II dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok perlakuan. Kelompok I adalah kelompok kontrol yang mendapat pil besi folat (60 mg besi dan 2 mg folat) setiap hari. Kelompok II yaitu yang mendapat pil besi folat seminggu sekali. Kelompok III yaitu yang mendapat pil besi folat seminggu sekali ditambah 100 mg Vitamin C. Pemeriksaan Hb dilakukan dengan cara cyanmethemoglobin sebanyak 3 kali yaitu pada awal penelitian, 2 bulan kemudian dan 4 bulan kemudian (akhir penelitian). Selain pemeriksaan Hb, juga dikumpulkan data klinis dan latar belakang Sosial Ekonomi keluarga. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keadaan sosial ekonomi rumahtangga sampel antar kelompok relatif sama. Pemberian pil besi folat seminggi sekali sama efektifnya dengan pemberian pil folat setiap hari untuk meningkatkan Hb pada ibu hamil Pada dua bulan sejak dimulai perlakuan kenaikan Hb kelompok yang mendapat pil besi folat dan vitamin C seminggu sekali lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan dua kelompok lainnya. Ditemukan fenomena bahwa lanjutan pil besi dan folat dan vitamin C justru kadar Hb-nya turun pada kehamilan trisemester III.
