Data ibu hamil menunjukkan bahwa anemi gizi masih merupakan masalah dan status vitamin A ibu hamil pun sebagian masih rendah. Kedua masalah gizi tersebut merupakan masalah yang terpisah akan tetapi ada kemungkinan keduanya merupakan masalah yang berkaitan antara satu dengan lainnya. Penelitian status besi dan status vitamin A telah dilakukan pada 75 orang ibu menyusui dari pedesaan di Kabupaten Bogor. Sampel berumur antara 16 tahun sampai dengan 35 tahun dengan status gizi baik, yang mempunyai anak balita berumur sampai dengan 2 tahun. Dari hasil penelitian terungkap bahwa rata-rata kadar vitamin A ibu menyusui tersebut adalah 32.8±11 ug/dl, sedangkan kadar ferritin (besi) adalah 20.4±12.6 ng/ml.
