Penelitian dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui apakah tingkat gizi dan kesehatan yang rendah, pengaruhnya nyata terhadap kekuatan jasmani para pekerja. Selanjutnya cara mana yang sebaiknya diambil untuk meningkatkan itu.</p><p>Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya banyak penyakit infeksi di kalangan pekerja tersebut. Makanan sehari-hari mereka kekurangan berbagai zat gizi, dan tercermin dalam beberapa gejala defisiensi. Prevalensi anemi kurang zat besi dan infestasi cacing tambang amat mencolok.
